USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Plastic can be sharp, broken pointy plastic can be really sharp, skin is soft. Please do not combine the two. Use the enclosed plastic screws to fasten the faceplate to your rack rails. Please avoid over tightening, it could cause the face to crack or break. Remember what we said about broken pointy pieces of plastic, that is right, the can be sharp. Clean the faceplate only with a soft dry paper towel or cotton cloth (Do not use the panties that are thrown on stage). Use if silk or some man made materials if rubbed vigorously on the faceplate could build up a small electrical charge that could cause a spark or be hazardous to sensitive electrical components. Always ground yourself before touching your rack mounted equipment. Rack Writer™ is compatible with most quality dry erase markers best performance is achieved with the use of low odor black dry erase markers. Some bold color high odor markers contain solvents that can smear and may leave a film. If this happens, write over the smudge with a good quality black dry erase marker and wipe them both off with a clean paper towel or cotton clothe. If this fails a common household alcohol swab (70% Isopropyl Alcohol) works well as a solvent to remove any marker that is stubborn or has been on for a long time. Do not soak the faceplate in alcohol, this may damage the writing surface. Please be careful, alcohol is extremely flammable.

DRY ERASE MARKER

Writes on and wipes clean with a clean dry cloth. It is ideal for writing frequently changing values such as start and stop times during the recording and editing process.

PERMANENT MARKER

Sharpie® brand and similar permanent markers write on smoothly, are highly visible, and durable. They are ideal if the face may get brushed or wiped. They will not smear or wipe off accidentally. Removal of these types of markers is simple just cover over the top of the writing you wish to remove with a dry erase marker and wipe the face clean with a clean dry cloth.

COMBINING DRY ERASE AND PERMANENT MARKER

By combining both permanent and dry erase markers it is easy to keep track of the frequently changing values associated with your most complex rack mounted equipment. Reproduce the layout of buttons, knobs switches, or digital displays with a permanent marker onto the face of the Rack Writer,™ leaving room in the center of the knob or display to write its preferred value. Simply write in the values with your dry erase marker. When these values need to be changed simply wipe the face with a clean dry cloth and only the dry erase marker will be removed, leaving the equipment's layout intact for reuse (unless you covered the permanent marker with dry erase when you wrote in the values). If the equipment changes or you move the Rack Writer™ simply cover over the permanent marker with dry erase or wipe clean with an alcohol swab and it is ready to start again.

DRYED OR LARGE QUANTITY OF MARKER

If the Rack Writer™ is covered with permanent marker (if your bored girlfriend reproduced your favorite guitarists latest graffiti guitar) or, marker has been left on the writing surface for a long time. Removal is accomplished easily with cheap readily available alcohol swabs (available at your local drug store 100 for less than $3.00).
